Ontario resident here who opposes developing on or near the greenbelt due to ecologically sensitive areas, farmland, woodlots and wetlands that form a vital part of Ontario’s regional agricultural land and watershed system that should be saved, not turned into another subdivision.
Invest in housing around higher density in-fill development around transportation corridors and hubs.
Maintain and grow walkable, livable cityscapes, with open space and connected green spaces.
Develop in brownfield areas like the Portlands or Downsview.
Invest in reliable and timely regional transit. create tolls for cars entering the downtown core. Keep cars out of the downtown core during set hours of the week M-F. Build pedestrian oriented streetscapes.
Develop an urban growth plan for 10, 20, 30 years.
Don’t go back on your previous election statements to protect the greenbelt.
