The proposed changes to the Provincial Policy Statement, 2020 (PPS) and A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (A Place to Grow) are far too radical and extreme to push through so quickly.
Building more conventional suburban housing faster is not a justification for upending our entire planning system.
The proposals would undermine natural heritage, cultural heritage, farmland and ag system protection, and other features simply to promote faster approvals for conventional suburban development with minor changes.
The major factors affecting housing supply are not addressed in this proposal. Land supply is not the major issue. Real, truly affordable housing supply will not be significantly improved by these changes.
