Affordable housing units would also be exempt from parkland dedication requirements.
This is a term that doesn't make sense. Affordable housing where families can raise their kids and not have a dedicated park for them to play in. OR - the developer choses to dedicate a storm water pond area as a green space. What kind of parent would accept this. The developer MUST put the money aside to build a community a park that they footed the bill for. Why should taxpayers pay for a park and the developer gets to fill his pocket with the cash from no park. Shame on whoever thought this scheme up.
Also how can any taxpayer cover the development fees for housing which should cover their own costs. Most Ontarians have concerns about keeping their jobs and making mortgage payments. Now the Ontario Government wants them to cover the Development fees from rich developers. Ford Government - who are you listening to? Surely it is not the citizens who pay their taxes. Shame on you for passing this bill when municipal elections have not given councils even the time to review and inform council!
