I find it odd that a Conservative government wants to end a program that was originally a conservative idea: to create a market for carbon and not merely rely on government regulation to reduce carbon emissions.
Also, controlling carbon emissions in this way is not a tax, so stop calling it that. By pricing pollution and allowing efficient companies to sell their carbon quota, industry is motivated to become more efficient, and efficiency is a source of more energy for productive uses.
Keep carbon pricing. Climate change is real, as Doug Ford admitted, and we all need to be part of the solution. Stop spending our tax dollars fighting what needs to be done.
