Comments on ERO 019 6167 Proposed Revocation of the Parkway Belt West Plan
Comments as follows:
1) The Parkway Belt West Plan must not be revoked. It complements the Highway 407 corridor by providing open space along its length. The open space can be used for agricultural purposes, restoration of woodlands, restoration of local prairies, and even parks.
2) Maintaining the Parkway Belt West Plan also allows for the opportunity to expand Metrolinx by the inclusion of bus ways, LRTs, and or additional GO Transit Train routes alongside Highway 407.
3) The Parkway Belt West Plan has been a useful adjunct to planning for many local municipalities. There are plenty of lands in existing municipalities that can be used for building residential housing of many types especially affordable housing. It’s best to leave the Plan alone. It has worked in the past, and there is really no justification to revoke it when there are uses to which it can be put as mentioned in 1) and 2) above.
