Above all else, protection against climate change is of vital economic importance to Ontarians. Costly issues caused by climate change do not discriminate and climate changes will ripple across our provincial economy, healthcare system and infrastructure. Setting a price on carbon is not a tax, but a realistic market based approach to dealing with climate change. I support a free market, and I would like to believe the Ontario government does too. Setting a price on carbon allows companies and individuals who choose to produce more carbon an organized and fair way to do so. The free market will decide how those costs are absorbed across marketplace participants. Since the potential problems arising from climate change are so high, this revenue is needed to protect of economic interests in Ontario. All supporters of the free market understand that government revenue that supports transportation infrastructure or a strong legal system are valid investments, as these work to keep Ontario competitive and protect our economic interests. Climate change mitigation is just another issue that must be managed for the good of Ontario's economy, workers, consumers, taxpayers and citizens. We elect our government to mange all of these things for us, so we can prosper in the private sector. Do your job, so we can do ours in a free and fair economic society with strong supports and infrastructure that we pay for. Please act on this and implement a carbon pricing strategy. Thanks.
