I am deeply disheartened to think that the Ontario government is proposing amendments to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to allow new licenses for dog 'train and trial' areas. That hunting pens for dog 'train and trials' would even be a consideration given the fact that they were phased out in 1997 is shocking to me. Should we not be evolving in terms of animal welfare rather than devolving? Hunting pens are inhumane and unethical.
To deliberately subject animals to cruelty, abuse, and suffering through the training and trialing of hunting dogs is reprehensible. These archaic facilities have no place in today’s society. Where is our empathy for the suffering of other sentient creatures? As the saying goes "when you know better, you must do better". I should think by now we most certainly know better.
Sincerely,
A Very Concerned Canadian Citizen
