I implore my government to act urgently to reduce Ontario's carbon emissions. It is the moral duty of the current government to put in place legislation that will stop emission growth and further reduce it to zero, as other jurisdictions have done . The previous government put fourth solutions that may not have been perfect but are far better than nothing. The reputation of our province is on the line and while I feel this consultation process is simply a regulatory checkbox for the current political leadership, I felt compelled to voice my opinion nonetheless.
I am adimently against the proposed Act and will be until a fully realised plan is in place to replace it. Any new legislative tool will have to be better than the existing in terms of carbon reduction impacts. World leaders in economics have come forward and said a carbon tax will work, perhaps we should go this route. This proposed Act is costing tax payers who are also paying to deal with the impacts of climate change.
