Carbon pricing is a proven method of reducing emissions that does not have averse effects on the economy. There is no excuse for cancelling it. It is unacceptable for the Ontario government (or any government) to be taking steps away from climate action. This cannot be answered with empty promises of taking action in other ways. If the government decides to scrap this program, alternative actions but be implemented and proven effective before scrapping carbon pricing. We are already seeing the effects of climate change on our lives. These changes will effect all of us, but disproportionately folks living in poverty. It is entirely irresponsible to delay action in the name of whatever frivolous political goals this is being sacrificed for.
