The government needs to put a price on emissions and the carbon footprint to reduce the devastating impacts of climate change in our province, country and world. Cancelling cap and trade is a retrograde step that ignores the consequences of inaction on this and will result in the expenditure of huge sums to deal with the growing impact of climate change on our air, environment, communities and security. Targets need to be legally binding and the government should be initiating responsible measures that can have immediate impact such as promoting plans for public transport that offset the need for more highway development.
I do not support Bill 4. I do not support using the funds set aside for the I,plementation of Cap and Trade to pay for lawsuits. Bill 4 is a shortsighted political gaming manoeuvre that does not have Ontario's best future in mind.
