We need to act on climate change urgently. Curiously, Minister Phillips is following the Trump administration's view on climate change -- that it is all too late. The IPCC report that was released earlier in October has two dimensions. On one hand, it shows that we are at a critical time in history and that we are running out of time. On the other hand, it has given us the blueprint to contain warming to 1.5 degrees. Businesses need to start curbing their emissions now. And for businesses to do that, they need a little push from the government, which cap and trade has done. Cancelling cap and trade does nothing to ensure our futures and only falls back on the familiar and misguided job vs. the environment discourse. Cassandra has been screaming for a long time. We are running out of time. If people in this government cared about their children and the humanity, they should not go through with this cancellation.
