Please do not cancel the Cap and Trade Act. There is very clear scientific evidence summarized by the IPCC that climate change is real and is going to adversely affect Canadians and Ontarians. There is also clear scientific/economic evidence that carbon pricing will work. If you are going to cancel this Act you need to have an alternative plan in place to fight climate change. I am very disappointed in our government and the population as whole for not caring more, likely because they do not understand the consequences of continued green house gas emissions. It is your job as the government to do what is best for Ontarians and to tell them why you are making the decisions that you are. We have an opportunity to be a global leader. It is my sincere wish that politicians that fail to act on climate can be held accountable in court for their blatant disregard for the health and welfare of their constituents, similar to how tobacco companies are being held to account for their role in negatively impacting people's health. I am making a promise to you right now. If you cancel this program without a viable alternative to curb green house gas emissions, I will never again for the rest of my life vote for the provincial conservative party. To be clear, I would be fine with your decision if you had an alternative plan in place that could be defended using rigorous scientific and economic analysis.
