I am strongly opposed to the Ministry's proposal to allow new licenses and transfer existing license for dog training and trail areas in Ontario. It is cruel, unnecessary and inhumane to hold animals captive, taking them from their natural habitat and using them as bait to train dogs. This will only result in unnecessary cruelty to both the wildlife and dogs. These laws will no doubt be used to justify and increase animal cruelty through dog and wildlife fighting rings and gambling, something this government seems to not only embrace but enjoy. This is unacceptable in today's society and instead of allowing new applications, the province's existing 24 facilities should be closed effective immediately.
