I, along with thousands of other Ontarians concerned about a livable future for our children and their children, struggle to understand how any responsible leader and government can ignore the crisis of climate change and a destabilized climate. Not only that, Premier Ford and his government are actively attacking solutions. Extreme storms, hotter summers, colder winters, rising sea levels, flooding and drought are just some examples of the new reality of climate change for Ontario cities and communities of all sizes.

Not only is it extremely short-sighted environmentally to cancel the cap and trade program without replacing it with a better, more conservative program to price pollution, such as carbon fee and dividend, it is disastrous economically. The Clean Energy Economy is the economy of the 21st Century, but this provincial government seems to have its sites set firmly on the past. Unfortunate for our economy, and devastating for future generations.
