I have been a commercial harvester for 30 years, i do understand the threat of invasive species. I have a big problem with smallmouth bass and perch getting into my close to the road baitfish lakes. I call it local fisherman ignorance. I sell 90% of my baitfish to thunderbay. 80% of the thunderbay fishermen fish lac de mille lacs, that water flows through the atikokan zone B. How will that work? If these new border regulations go through, i will lose my livelyhood. Thunderbay bait dealers will also not survive without us harvesters to the west. Where could i harvest and sell bait? Commercial bait harvested from the great lakes would be allowed to move inland to adjacent BMZs That is where the problem is, the invasive species from the great lakes. The borders should be put up between the great lakes and inland bait harvester areas. I do not have invasive species in my baitfish lakes up here in northwestern ontario. Thanks.
