CO2 emissions are a real problem for both Ontario and the world. There is a real cost to global warming that we pay for in increased food prices and taxes to handle extreme weather events. The cap and trade system is a good first step to shifting the cost of CO2 emissions to the corporations that are responsible for those emissions. Removing the cap and trade system with no plans for a replacement is a step backwards in the Ontario's position both in the world and in its environment protection.
If that was not enough the costs of cancelling the plan are real and rather large. Why cancel cap and trade if it's going to cost the province money? Isn't the major selling point of the current administration that it will spend less money?
