Improper management of wastewater and stormwater has the potential to cause serious impacts to human and environmental health.
Protecting water quality and quantity and mitigating risk to drinking water sources is the role of government which you are abdicating with these proposed amendments.
These proposals removes wait time, assumes self management regarding any rules, and drinking water threat is being left to individual professionals. Are their professional colleges changing their codes of conduct and penalties?
With appropriate regulation and monitoring, stormwater can fulfill public needs, social equity and enhance food security, a lack of proper management results in financial, environmental, and societal costs in terms of human health, mortality, and morbidity.
These proposed amendments are ill conceived, cumulative impact will no longer visible or monitored, with an inspection regime that is weak and inadequate.
These proposed amendments will surely lead to increased potential of a tragedy occurring!
I am strongly opposed to these amendments and implore you to NOT PROCEED WITH THESE PROPOSALS!!
