For those who are in the 60th%ile for household income, this means that 40% of households have an income higher. Does this government really believe that 30% of the amount that 40% of households can afford for housing is truly affordable for those living in poverty, one income families or single parents.

With many households in Ontario are struggling to survive while on minimum wage ($16.55/hr), this is not enough to cover food, medical, transportation, shelter. Nearly two million people across Ontario - from small rural communities to large urban centres - live in poverty through no fault of their own. That is one in seven of our neighbours.

The Affordable housing proposal as it stands, does not and will not address the needs of those living in poverty. This is a crisis and must be dealt with as any other emergency.
