This is completely unnecessary and just as disingenuous and ill-gotten an idea as removing lands from the Greenbelt and redrawing municipal boundaries to further chip away at protected areas and our waters for the sake of private business profit.
This is not streamlining anything except the destruction and erosion of our environment. Industry must be regulated in these areas as they will not act in the best interest of the public but only for themselves. We don't need another Walkteron or Brenntag incident - the latter's reckless poisoning of Mimico Creek is a perfect example of why industry should be held to a higher standard than it currently is, not a lower one as this proposal seeks to do.
We are so lucky with the amount of freshwater we have - why ruin it by letting companies do whatever they want? This is a disaster in the making and I implore you to withdraw this proposal. Many other environmental advocacy have done the same - CELA, Ontario Headwaters, to name two. There is no support for this.
