This proposal leaves the safety of public drinking water resources in the hands of one person working on behalf of the proponent. They would be tasked with keeping public and area drinking water resources safe. Without your ministry's review of every application, and no way for the public to know about EASR activities before they are approved, we could be looking at another contaminated water supply scenario. Significant drinking water threats should be maintained in SPPs. It would be too risky and irresponsible to allow activities to go forward without scientific review. Please pull this proposal.

The proposal reads -
Under the proposed regulation, proponents would be required to identify whether the activity is a significant drinking water threat. If the activity is a significant drinking water threat, the LEP would be required to consider additional design measures and may need to consider other requirements, such as a monitoring plan. Prohibitions in source protection plans on the establishment of stormwater management works that are significant threats would be maintained as part of the proposed EASR regulation.
