It is essential to have a price for carbon emissions, and to keep Ontario’s Cap and Trade program. For too long, polluters have privatized profits while imposing the enormous environmental costs onto the public. We, as a society, cannot afford to allow carbon emissions to continue unchecked. We must rapidly decarbonize all industries and take drastic actions to prevent average global temperatures from warming more than 1.5C above preindustrial levels to avoid the worst outcomes of the climate catastrophe already in motion.
