The PWU appreciates the opportunity to submit comments and make recommendations to the Ministry of Energy’s request for public feedback on the proposed Treatment of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements. The PWU is a strong supporter and advocate for the prudent and rational reform of Ontario’s electricity sector and recognizes the importance of low-cost, low-carbon energy to the competitiveness of Ontario’s economic sectors.
The PWU believes that the government should not proceed with this proposal due to the high cost to other ratepayers. If it does, several conditions should be established to minimize those costs.
