I am opposed of the York1 expansion in Dresden Ontario. We are a small town with 2 schools, one elementary and one highschool both on the same road. We only have 1 street light in our town which is also on the same road. When you go through Dresden there is only 1way in and one way out because of the Sydenham River. The amount of traffic that will go through town is monumental and dangerous. With a large farming community and a mandatory truck route for half load season, the increase in traffic for the dump will destroy our roads and the ones in neighbouring communities. The bridge that connects each half of town that everyone must cross will withstand the increase in traffic. All the traffic goes by each school, it is a danger to our children who cross the roads everyday to go to school. During harvest season with our extended season with the tomato factory and other produce that go through our community on the same road the congestion of traffic that already exists will more than quadruple the risks of accidents not only motorists but to pedestrians. The highschool has no crosswalk to their facility and the elementary school has only one cross walk. Our infrastructure of our roads in the town of Dresden can not handle that volume of traffic that will go through our town and the surrounding towns. If the proposal goes through the trucks that will be entering the facility will cause congestion on Oil heritage Line. This is going to cause significant congestion for people coming and going into town and the neighbouring county.
