While I understand what…

While I understand what york1 is trying to do and see the benefit of a recycling facility, the proposed location is absolutely inappropriate being so close to a town in the middle of prime agricultural land. There is no way that the volume of construction debris scheduled for processing can be sorted on a daily basis; which means that piles of concrete, asphalt, shingles, metals and drywall will be sitting outside with exposure to elements. My family lived in Kitchener before moving to Dresden in 2022. I was shocked by how different weather patterns are here in comparison to the KW area. Winds reach very high speeds, we get very little snow in comparison but lots of heavy rainfall. We have to power wash the siding on our house atleast 2x a year due to the buildup of dirt from the town's surrounding fields. The idea of my children breathing in crystalline silica and being exposed to known carcinogens and asthma inducers is very concerning. Every industry and facility is subject to human error (my profession is Human Resources with a specialty in Health and Safety). Even with the best protocol corners are often cut, and I don't feel this facility should be constructed so close to a town on a known floodplain. The Sydenham River is one of the cleanest Rivers in Ontario and it would be a shame to have any contamination.

Another one of my concerns is that large volume of transport truck traffic York1 is proposing. Our infrastructure is not equipped to handle such large volumes of heavy traffic. We also moved to this area to get away from said traffic so I will be furious if we have to deal with the increased traffic pollution and noise.

Thank you for listening to our concerns and taking our issues seriously.
