According to the recent IPCC report released, we have little time to prevent an alarming temperature increase and unprecedented climate change impacts that will affect ALL of society. If we cannot take actions such as implementing cap and trade to reduce our emissions- not just as a province, but as a country too- then we will continue to encourage inaction and ignorance to environmental changes. As highlighted across all news releases on this report, inaction is not an option and we need to act fast. Cap and trade is only one solution, however is an important way in which we need to begin recognizing the extent to how carbon emissions are influencing climate change (and we are seeing this on a local level too). As I recognize that people only want to continue "business as usual", this is no longer an option if we want to create change to sustain both society and our environment- and people need to be educated on exactly why strategies like cap and trade is now necessary, not just an option.
