We are strongly opposed to the elimination of the use of live bait in Long Lake (Sharpe and Robillard Townships) as it is partially enclosed in the Englehart River Fine Sand Plain and Waterway Provincial Park. We are not opposed to some restrictions on the importation of life bait.
Changes of this nature are in violation of the guarantees that were made by your government when you established this park under the Lands for Life program of a few years ago. At that time you provided assurances that hunting and fishing within this area would not be affected in anyway. This is another example of why people do not trust governments. You must exclude this provincial park area from the life bait restriction in order to maintain any form of credibility. What about the outfitters on this lake, these businesses are already suffering, are you trying to drive a nail in their coffin?
