As a life-long angler I would support many of the proposed changes to the way bait is caught, transported, sold and used in Ontario. Reducing the number of species permitted; requiring wholesale and retail sellers to be trained and licensed; ensuring self caught bait is used on the body of water it was taken from and enforcing these rules will be essential to protecting our waterways.
In a time when hard and soft artificial baits are plentiful, easily attainable and remarkably effective I would struggle to argue that bait fishing still has a place in most angler's 'bag-of-tricks'.
