The OEB is trying to protect consumers in the middle of an affordability crisis. The government's proposed legislative amendments to overturn the OEB decision would make our gas bills go up considerably. This is not fair! Why should we pay for Enbridge to put in new gas lines that are bad for the climate and that are being phased out anyway? Why should the owners of new homes be saddled with outdated gas furnaces instead of modern heat pumps that are actually CHEAPER to run? All these new homes will need to be retrofitted to remove gas within the next 10 - 15 years. Why is your government forcing Ontarians to accept more expensive fossil gas that is killing us?
This is wrong. Do not pass these amendments.
