York1 does not care that many of the landmark buildings that we have are regarded as cultural heritage assets and are all protected legally to make certain they are safeguarded.

York 1 does not care that they are disingenuous with their information to our community. York 1 posted one of their EROs to discharge onsite ditch and storm water ponds that will drain into Molly’s Creek. Mollys Creek is the refuge to 80 species of fish and 34 freshwater mussels, including endangered species. It flows into the Sydenham River and then on to the St. Clair River. The ERO was closed for comments before any public knowledge of this site was proposed to residents, whom it significantly impacts. 

York 1 does not care that the proposed landfill site is less than 1 km from our town and schools and will cause acute and long term health threats, with upsettingly, no consistency for an environmental assessment. Not even questioned, for a prerequisite on a 40 plus year old document with a historical zoning designation. York 1s trying to use a significantly different proposal -using old records.

York 1 does not care that this oversized landfill will cause a threat of toxic leachate and compromise our town’s water supply and release hazardous air pollution for us to breathe in daily. Leachate will cause contamination of soil, escalate soil erosion from waste compaction and harm soil quality and heighten the safety risk to our food produced by local farmers. One of Dresden’s tomatoe processing plants is a major local employer for our citizenry.

York 1 does not care that since the late 19th century floods have inundated parts of Dresden and we have had major floods, as in 1947,and a destructive flood in 1968. Flooding has always being a frequent concern and recurrent risk to our town.

York 1 does not care that there is an increase of waste to 6000 tonnes a day that includes asbestos and waste that does not belong on this agricultural site.

York 1 does not care about the drastic increase in noise that is researched and documented to cause psychological stress. There are numerous traffic and pedestrian safety issues with York 1 equipment that will cause congestion on our roadways. Our town and roads cannot tolerate hundreds of trucks 24/7 safely ,especially during peak farming seasons. 

York 1 does not care about the loss of value on our homes and businesses and about the aesthetic appeal our town has created over generations. The distress to our local economy and natural environmental and recreational activities is unimaginable. This will only lead to legal disputes and litigations between affected parties. 

York 1 does not care that we are a small community that is scared for what lies ahead of us. The safety and health problems that will continue on to future generations. The large companies always say “it’s ok, it’s safe “ because money talks. 

York 1 does not care because they will drive back to their safe homes and non toxic backyards and not consider the risks and jeopardy they are causing hours away.
