Two years ago, I replaced my defunct gas furnace with a heat pump. Everyday, I am saving money.
We should be requiring developers to install heat pumps instead of methane gas connections.
Methane is an extremely potent greenhouse gas and we are in a climate emergency. We should not be encouraging the expansion of methane gas infrastructure, we should be actively shutting it down.
If we are going to amortize the costs of new infrastructure over 40 years, we should be focusing on the technology of the future, not of the past. We could invest in infrastructure for geothermal energy instead of methane gas.
