This proposal is a thinly-veiled attempt by the Ford government to expand their ability to give massive handouts to their corporate friends. Capitalism is built on the premise that competition drives innovation and affordability, yet this government insists on granting Enbridge a near-monopoly because it can no longer compete with renewables, despite its massive subsidies. Climate change is accelerating and “natural gas” has been revealed to be as bad as coal, leaking massive amounts of the potent greenhouse-gas methane into our atmosphere, yet this government wants to tie individual Ontarians to 40 years with this pollutant. It claims to value affordability but wants to put liens on new homes, and to suppress less expensive options. This is an absurd proposal, so blatantly corrupt that it ought to be investigated for yet another suspicious tie between Ford government officials and their personal friends in industry .
