I grew up just outside of Dresden. I still have many ties to this community and visit just about every week. Many of my family and friends call this gem of a town home. The idea of this mega dump coming to our community and the town of Dresden is terrifying. Chatham-Kent has great farmland, rivers, creeks and loads of wildlife that are seriously at risk if this happens. Not to mention the hardship and health risks to the amazing citizens of Dresden and surrounding areas. I truly can’t think of a more heartbreaking situation for not just Dresden but for all of Chatham-Kent and southwestern Ontario. The citizens of this town have come together so many times to make Dresden an amazing and desirable place to live. The have keep the small town charm, the Dresden night markets pack in people from all over South-Western Ontario, Dresden shines, Dresden food bank, the schools, the arena and the hockey families, the race track, all the unique and wonderful shops and restaurants…how do they survive? The impact to the waterways in Dresden flow to so many other communities. What happens to them? The wildlife that call the waterways home and all the wildlife that depend on that water to survive, what about them? This dump will put all land, water and living creatures at terrible risk. As a citizen of Chatham-Kent, please don’t allow York1 to destroy our land, water, wildlife, businesses, way of life, community, town and our lives.
