I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 Trillion clean economy. I want - nay we NEED Ontario to put a price on pollution, and make the polluters pay for their emissions and return the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so we can lower our carbon footprint. Did you not see the recent UN report? We can no longer stand by and do NOTHING. The generations before mine may have made mistakes, but they didn't have the knowledge that we have now. To have the information we have - and to not put a price on carbon is misinformed, ill-advised and quite frankly an insult to any of us who are going to have to deal with these issues in the next 20-30 years. Enough is enough - I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts to fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions. I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
The world will transition to a cleaner, greener economy - and we can either lead the charge and reap the benefits - or we can be left in the past with the rest of the climate change deniers. You're doing this for political reasons - and not based on any facts. If polluters don't pay for the pollution, who is going to? Is your solution no one - because that is why we are where we are.
To think you're going to challenge the federal government on this is ludicrous - what a waste of time and money that will be. Ontarians will get a cheque from carbon pricing, and it can either have Trudeau's name on it, or Doug Fords... Don't be stupid. Do the right thing.
