I have serious environmental and social concerns with this proposed amendment. It's very close to our town and was NEVER permitted to handle the quantities of material or type before this proposed amendment. Our town would be overwhelmed with trucks coming in AND out and York1 looks to have done very minimal study into the feasibility of this proposal. It seems that they were really hoping the exiting permit would allow them to go "under the radar" in terms of modern environmental compliance. There is only one road in front of the site that can handle the trucks and they have to either go through our town, passing two schools and a BUSY access to a tomato processing facility that is CRITICAL to our local economy. Otherwise they will have to drive through numerous communities in Lambton county to get here. I don't believe York1 counted on the citizens being aware of this project and their information and claims about our town are ill-informed at best. Their approach has been disingenuous to say the least. A full Environmental Assessment needs to be done as it's proximity to our waterways is very alarming. Of all places why do they want to do this by a river I fish in, canoe in and enjoy?
