Ontario needs carbon pricing. The economy of Ontario will be adversely affect by the elimination of cap-and-trade, including the penalties that taxpayers will be forced to pay for its elimination. Extreme flooding, severe drought and deadly storms will take billions out of the economy. The economy of Downtown Goderich is only now recovering from a single tornado that ripped through the town in 2011, but there won't be time to recover when severe climate events happen every year. Carbon pricing through pollution taxes is another means of reducing carbon emissions, so if cap-and-trade is cancelled, the Government of Ontario must join the federal government to support pollution taxes.
