Do not remove public appeal rights. I'm here commenting because I believe in public engagement. The public's right to appeal is not "red tape" and is necessary. Public engagement should be weighed in any decision-making process. Provincial government can already make decisions with wide reaching implications for municipalities. Don't take away our right to appeal or challenge provincial plans for the land we live on, the air we breathe and the water we drink. I support plans for affordable housing- but the current provincial government has already shown blatant disregard for public interest, Indigenous rights, agriculture and conservation. I am rural and already see agricultural land, forests and wetlands being bought up by developers. I am already seeing prime agricultural land and ecologically valuable land turning into developments that will never become agricultural or ecologically valuable again. I already know where this is going and where this bill will take us if public appeal rights are removed. I do not want more farmland destroyed for suburbs.
