While I agree there is a housing crisis, there are many homes left empty in our area and the main issue is affordability. Building more houses is not really going to help with the affordability issues!
Some additional consideration also needs to be given for house owners, as bylaws are being changed fast and furious with little communication and consultation with the community. As homeowners we are losing our rights to our properties and being severely impacted by abutting properties due to changes in zoning bylaws allowing larger infills impacting privacy and also daylight on neighbouring properties.
Additionally infrastructure and whole communities (ie. sewer systems, transportation, grocery stores, schools, community centres, etc) are being developed prior to increased density. Poor planning!! Cart before the horse and band-aid effect!
