Climate change is a crisis for which our actions today will determine the future of humanity. There is no question that we must cease emitting green house gasses and make very significant changes to our economy if we are to avoid the worst of the economic, health, environmental and related tragedies and suffering that the warming of the planet due to our past and current actions is causing. The very minimum of which is to implement immediately a price on carbon. To delay or reverse such policies is to sign our children's death warrants, and perhaps our own. It is unconscionable and beyond inhumane. It is certainly not leadership. I urge this government, our government, to put the need to respond responsibly and immediately to climate change above politics. It requires policy now, but should not be considered partisan. Listen to the IPCC, listen to the Nobel prize winner in Economics. Do not cancel the cap and trade program, instead make it stronger, make it more effective. Make action on climate change the top priority of this government for the good of all Ontarians and humanity.
