Regarding ERO # 019-8738:
I think the proposed recommendations by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM) that addresses non-designated or “listed” properties included on municipal registers is warranted and should be passed.
Municipalities like Toronto have a wealth of built history, and a line-up of developers ready to inform property owners that their heritage home is not worth saving.
Unfortunately, the process of designating a property takes time in researching it’s built, architectural and / or people-connected history. As City Preservation Services has limited numbers of staff, I think that extending the timeframe to 2027 will be helpful.
Personally, I am very pleased that MCM has put this proposal forward.
