Getting rid of bike lanes does not reduce congestion, in fact it creates more of it.
It creates more pollution as you will force more people to drive in cars.
Hey 400, Hwy 401, Hwy 417, DVP are all heavily travelled and have traffic backups and they don't have any bike lanes.
If your plan was to increase mass transit, getting more people to walk and bike then that might mean less cars and less congestion.
You have made these grand statements about bike lanes being congestion causing things but all the data points to the fact that active transportation (bike, walking, running) make our communities safer and healthier. Better, more frequent and inexpensive transit would also reduce traffic congestion.
Actual enforcement of traffic laws for cars (blocking intersections at lights), speeding, unsafe lanes changes, these would help more than banning bike lanes.
Look at the actual data of cities that embrace active transportation (bikes, walking). They are healthier, cleaner places for people to live in and for people to visit.
People from the USA do not come to Ontario to visit our highways or streets filled with cars. They want places to walk, bike and visit.
