I am vehemently opposed to the plan to cancel Bill 4. As a voter, environmental protection is the issue that is most important to me. The Government of Ontario has a responsibility to protect its citizens in the long term as well as the short term, and climate change is the singular biggest long-term threat against our safety right now. Nobel prize winners Paul Romer and William Nordhaus state that a carbon tax that increases over time is the most effective measure to reduce emissions. We do not have the option not to act, and our current carbon tax plan is the best plan of action that we have. Ontario's future must be carbon neutral, and we need to start working towards that now.
