This approval should not be granted…

Regardless of what has gone on between the Township and the company that is proposing this project, a decision made by ONE OLT member is having a negative impact that is so far-reaching that this decision needs to be reassessed.

It appears that the member who has made the decision in favour of this project has no environmental background, no agricultural background, no biology, chemistry, physics background, no engineering background. It is astounding that this decision made by ONE member of the board will have such an impact on my life, my children's lives, my neighbours' lives, and the community at large.

It is interesting that an individual from the “Standing Committee of Government Agencies” states while interviewing prospective OLT members …..

“Under its previous incarnations under different names, there have been many who have said that the OLT was really, in many cases-and I've heard this many times—a rubber stamp for developers.
In the city of Toronto, you have developers that will make a presentation or a request to the city to develop, and rather than pursue going through the city of Toronto, they just immediately go, as soon as possible, to the tribunal, feeling that they will get a better result there”.

There is so much UNKNOWN about the long-term effects of this project. By definition this proposed project is a “NOXIOUS” industry. It’s location brings into question “INCOMPATIBLE LAND USE” as my home is defined as “SENSITIVE LAND USE”. The nearby trailer park, the school…..also sensitive land use!!!! This industry simply should not go ahead in this location.

A storage facility such as this has never been built on such a scale. It's an experiment. And it’s an experiment for an industrial park area, or the likes of Chemical Valley in Sarnia….it is not appropriate for a parcel of land that was zoned industrial some 40 years ago to meet criteria at that time. It is surrounded by agricultural and rural residential zoning and a thriving rural community.

The engineered drawings are the first of its kind and have never been put into practice because this facility is the first of its kind in Ontario. Why we are treading into the unknown is beyond myself, all of my neighbours, and anyone that I come across and speak to. The actual proposed project is one thing, but where you are putting it is quite another and is what needs to be looked at under a microscope!!!!!!!!

The UNKNOWN about air quality, how is this going to impact my health?
The UNKNOWN about fresh drinking water, how is this going to impact my well and my drinking water?
What controls are in place to 100%, and I mean 100% guarantee safety of the sewage/septage/leachate holding facility if/and when it leaks.
The UNKNOWN effects on species at risk and the fragile ecosystem of the Sydenham River.
The UNKNOWN negative effects of flooding following a storm event?
The UNKNOWN!
This is a pending environmental disaster!

We do KNOW that there are forever chemicals in this product. The PFAs are abundant in this product!! PFAs have garnered such attention and it seems as we are simply ignoring the inevitable environmental disaster long term as their presence in this product is WELL KNOWN!

We do KNOW that both Michigan and Maine have retracted their initial decisions on biosolids and biofertilizers and are banning them.

Why are we remaining in the dark ages and moving forward with such a controversial project that contains such a controversial product? It is beyond upsetting that our whole community will be affected forever.
Generations to come will be affected forever…..by the decision of ONE person who has not asked for any further studies to be completed, who has not asked for anything in depth or long term to be done prior to this project going ahead. Indeed I would like to look at the present research and long term studies on this product that have been done on humans, animals and drinking water to ensure my safety!

Instead of an OLT stamp that is altering the lives of so many, perhaps a logical and hard NO would be the answer for now!

A municipality should be able to direct its future regarding a project of such magnitude and controversy that absolutely no one in the community is interested in housing for the myriad of reasons stated above.
