I think that bike lanes are important for a number of reasons:
--the presence of bike lanes means that many are encouraged to cycle because they feel that bike lanes help to protect their safety
--more bikes on the road mean fewer cars
--fewer cars mean faster trips, not slower ones as the Premier suggests
--fewer cars mean fewer green house gases (GHGs), helping us to breathe easier
--fewer GHGs mean less asthma, heart attacks, and a better quality of life
--an easy way that the average citizen can lower his/her/their carbon footprint.
