Taking points away for second chance first choice is completely wrong
I hunt with 9 -15 others in a group so if we dont get a tag in first round we will all be applying first choice second round
If we draw multiple tags in that round we wont need them all
if your gonna take all our points then that would make us take all tags and shoot multiple moose from one hunting spot which is no good for the moose population
I think you need to shorten the acceptance period and force tags to be accepted long before the hunt starts
If the first choice second round applicant dont accept the tag keep going through the first choice list by points until they have all had a chance to accept
after that take second choice applicants and random draw them for tags not taken
This way low point hunters have a chance at getting tags so they arent waiting 7 years to get a calf tag
There is also another tag that could be issued that wouldnt affect population is a deer antler bull
They arent breeder bulls until they are older but have a good amount of meat for a gang to harvest
If your shooting a calf its 50/50 chance its a bull but on year 2 you know your not shooting a cow
If i can identify a calf thats 4' tall, brislly hump and slender nose n hips from a cow then identifying a small antler bull seems way easier
