If no Environmental Assessment is done on the property, then how will you know:
If the soil will contain the pollutants and stop them from reaching the ground water and rivers?
If the noise from crushing wood and concrete will make living within a km impossible?
If the storage of asbestos will not pollute the air for the nearby residents and schools?
If the 100's of trucks per day will not cause noise, air pollution and endanger school busses and farm equipment?
If the wild life in the creek and river backing on to the property will survive?
If 800 meters is enough border from the town limits?
If the land, Molly's Creek and the Sydenham river are completely polluted by this project will it ever be able to be cleaned up again?
If the local wells being used for drinking water within 100 meters of the dump site will be safe?
If the clay in the ground is suitable for a dump and will offer proper containment?
If placing this dump so close to a town won't be a town killer?
All of these items need to be considered by doing an Environmental Assessment. The lives of the residence, the health of the town and the health of the waterways deserve it.
