I am writing to express my concern over the Ontario government’s plan to remove protections of the environment, which would allow major development projects like the proposed waste dump near Dresden, I’m concerned if you allow the owner of the Dresden property where they proposed this dump to proceed without a proper environmental assessment. This site is located just 1 km from Lambton Kent Composite School, very close to the public school, as well as concerns for the small ponds on the property they plan to use for liquid waste management then dumping into Mollys creek which flows into the Sydenham River, home to several endangered species.

If this plan moves forward without environmental oversight, it puts our community, local wildlife, and fragile ecosystems at serious risk. Dumping liquid waste into Molly’s Creek could lead to irreversible contamination of the water system and destruction of sensitive habitats. Bypassing both municipal and provincial input is unacceptable, especially for a project with such significant environmental and public health consequences.

I urge the government to stop this from happening, the people who live in the area are against the dump being placed there, you should uphold environmental protections, and require a full environmental assessment. Projects like this must not be allowed to proceed without transparency, public input, and responsibility to the land and people they affect. When Doug Ford first heard about this project, he said that if the people don’t want it there then it shouldn’t be put there, will Doug Ford stand by his word?
