This landfill will severely impact our small town. The landfill is 1 km from town. There is one road to the landfill. A creek lies to the side of the landfill which flows to the Sydenham river and then on to the St Clair River.
We are a small farming community. Hundreds of trucks going through our town with both the elementary and high schools along the main road the trucks will be travelling will be a hazard to the children.
Farmland surrounds the site as well. What toxins will leak into the farm fields?
An environmental assessment of the site was approved prior to York 1 being able to open a landfill here.
Why was the assessment cancelled?
Are not the concerns of the community considered?
