I’m raising some very valid and heartfelt concern reflecting a deep frustration that many in rural and smaller communities across Ontario (and Canada) are feeling, especially when decisions seem to come from higher levels of government without meaningful input from the people most affected.

Chatham-Kent has absolutely seen a lot of challenges since amalgamation in 1998. Communities lost a lot of local control, infrastructure investments were uneven, and it's true that political representation at the provincial and federal levels can feel diluted in such a geographically large but sparsely populated area.

As for the issue of garbage and environmental risk—if Chatham-Kent is being considered as a dumping ground for waste (either from other municipalities or industrial sources), it's completely fair for residents to push back. That kind of decision can have long-term impacts on farmland, groundwater, and local ecosystems. And yes, that affects the farming industry directly.
