With the proposal of the new dump in Dresden, it won't only affect the community of Dresden, but it will also have an effect on the Sydenham River. The Sydenham River has many species and all of them are at risk already without the dump. If the dump goes through, these species of animals will most likely die. With at least 34 mussel species, 80 fish species. More than 20 fish and mussel species are currently living in the Sydenham River. Northern Sunfish are just one of many fish species at risk in the Sydenham, they are only one type of fish that will be extinct if the dump goes in. There are hundreds more species living in the river. Like Grass Tall Pickerel, Kidneyshell Mussel, Rounded Pig toe Mussel, Eastern Fox snake, and Midland Painted Turtle. Where the York 1 people are wanting to put the dump has lots of little streams leading to the river like Molly’s creak, which will slowly bring garbage, fluids, and chemicals that have been brought into the dump. All the things that will be added into the river will start to pollute, which will kill all the species living in the Sydenham. As it will start polluting the water, it will also then affect the crops and fields in and around the dump, with the streams leading to the dump with the fields on the way. Not only is it impacting the species and fields, but yet, the roads, the roads in the small town of Dresden will not withstand the big trucks driving on them, they will start to break and crumble. When the roads break it will be the taxpayers of Dresden paying to fix them, so not only would the dump alter the ecosystem but slow start to ruin Dresden. The people of Dresden already aren’t happy about a landfill going in their town yet having to pay for a new road, as well as the health part of it. Breathing in and living around a landfill is going to affect people's well-being and health by the fungus and molds. Breathing in fungus and molds is going to not just affect one person but many, it will affect their cellular respiration system and more. Why would you want to put the ecosystem, town, and person's well-being at risk for what a landfill? There are tons of other places you can put, you don’t have to put a landfill next to a small town.
