I am writing to oppose Bill 5 and the repealing of the Endangered Species Act.

Ontario’s endangered species need to be fully protected. This includes comprehensive habitat protection, robust recovery strategies, automatic species listings and science based assessments. Bill 5 does a gross disservice to residents of Ontario by allowing a single minister the power to allow development to impact our environment and negatively impact endangered species. The changes in Bill 5 will result in irreversible loss of our natural ecosystems and our most vulnerable wildlife species and their habitats. Economic growth must not come at the expense of biodiversity and ecological integrity.

Maintain the Endangered Species Act, 2007 as is and defeat Bill 5
